Why "Cortese"?

The name Cortese pays homage to Isabella Cortese, a figure closely linked to Renaissance Venice who, in 1561, published "The Secrets of Lady Isabella Cortese," a collection of recipes and knowledge spanning perfumes, cosmetics, and experimentation.

It is from this visionary figure that the idea for Cortese Cocktail Bar was born, a name that honors a pioneer of sensory research and brings that spirit of discovery into the present.
