no[w]here, the title of the exhibition curated by the 2024 participants of the School for Curatorial Studies Venice at A Plus A Gallery is a play on words - nowhere and now here - that introduces the sense of ephemerality and fluidity of the very nature of belonging. The exhibition hosts the works of different international artists invited to reflect on the subtle concept of belonging, exploring their relationship with place, identity and memory. Thus the works of Maha AlGhamdi, Sarah Aldihbashi, Delfina Ameijeiras, Ana Bermeo Silva, Louise Bouvet-Zieleskiewicz, Öykü Yalçındağ Canlı, Maria Casadellà, Francesca Costa, Romina Del Prete, Yusuf Essop, Nour Gary, Ariel H., Jannan Kazmi, Betty Lu, Amshula Prakash, Anindo Sen, Adda Sophia Cubas, Sofia Torres and Puck van der Werf hide complex references and conjure up intimate and personal narratives, creating dialogues between installations, photography, sculpture and painting. The artists cross national borders together and, starting from the emotion born from the earth, they venture on the one hand into imaginative and dreamy explorations imbued with magical realism, and on the other they launch themselves into formal experiments that become instruments of political and social criticism.
