The Fondazione dell'Albero d'Oro in collaboration with the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana of Venice, the Bibliothèque nationale de France and the Staatsbibliothek of Berlin dedicates a multimedia exhibition to the life and travels of Nicolò Manucci (1638 - 1720), Venetian explorer of humble origins embarked in Venice in November 1653 for the East, hidden in the hold of a tartan, never to return. The exhibition project, hosted for the first time in Palazzo Vendramin Grimani, follows the salient stages of the life of the atypical traveler by tracing a narrative path that includes artifacts and decorative elements from different eras and a selection of reproductions and digital installations of the manuscripts left by Manucci, the Red Book and the Black Book, which through the pages of texts and the richness of colors and illustrations leads to the fascinating discovery of the vanished world of Mughal India.
